Halloween season is here! Join the Women’s National Book Association—San Francisco Chapter for a fun, casual, Halloween-themed mixer on Wednesday, October 22 at noon PT.

Hosted by WNBA-SF Networking Ambassador Debra Eckerling, it’s a chance to hang out with fellow writers, publishing pros, and book enthusiasts. Catch up with friends and make some new connections.

During the mixer, everyone will have a few minutes in the spotlight:

No Tricks: Introduce yourself, tell everyone who you are, and share what you’re working on.

Just Treats: Ask for something you need. Looking for a service? Reviews for your book? Help spreading the word about a project? A little encouragement? Put it out there and see who can help.

Come ready to mix, mingle, and have a great time.

It’s a MIXER, so share this post and bring a literary friend or two to join the virtual fun!

Authors tend to self-isolate to get the job done. However, visibility is one of the key factors of book marketing that should not be overlooked. Fortunately, there is more than one way to get in the public eye and most of the options don’t cost a dime.

Continuing the conversation from her Author Audit Lunch N’ Learn, Megan Mary will dive into the wonderful world of earned media.

Earned media is in short organic buzz or publicity and brand exposure through third party channels. From podcasts and summits to serving as a subject matter expert, leveraging earned media is crucial to gaining new readers and lasting exposure. Topics we’ll cover include:

  • Press (radio, TV, print, podcasts, guest columns, interviews, press releases, in-person events, panels, summits)
  • Reviews (contest, awards, blogs, goodreads, storygraph, librarything)
  • Social Media
  • Word of Mouth (street team, SYK, giveaways, collaborations, book clubs)

Discover all of the options and come away with an actionable to-do list at Megan Mary’s Lunch N’ Learn!
