Are you developing a concept for a new book? Do you have a manuscript in progress? Have you always wanted to publish that book you’ve been working on for years? If this sounds like you, we would love to invite you to Pitch-O-Rama 2024!
After our amazing 20th anniversary session last year, we are happy to announce we will be hosting the next Pitch-O-Rama as a virtual event on April 20th, 2024, where writers will be given the opportunity to pitch their works to agents and editors for publication.

New to Pitch-O-Rama? Pitch-O-Rama is an annual event where we bring in a set of publishing professionals to share their knowledge of the publishing industry. During the event, you will be able to practice your pitch with coaches and fellow writers, and then share that pitch with an expert who will provide advice on taking your writing project to the next level.
A chance like this is an invaluable learning experience that could put you on the path to publication. We hope to see you there!

It’s past “early 2024” and I am not finding the list of agents. Without that, I am not signing up for this as I cannot tell if any of them are a good fit.

Hello,
Do we pitch to multiple agents at one time, or are we assigned a time slot? Do all the editors view the pitches or just a select few? Is it like speed dating, where one makes pitches to several agents on a rotational basis? I’d love more clarification on how the event operates.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for your interest in POR 2024! The way we have structured the event is you will be put into a breakout room with a handful of fellow pitchers. An agent/editor will be assigned to your room, you will take turns pitching to that one agent during the allotted time. After the time is up, the agent will move into another breakout room to hear more pitches, and a different agent will be assigned to your breakout room to take your pitches. You will be spending the event with the same pitchers and the different agents will be moving from breakout room to breakout room. Our goal is to ensure each participant gets to pitch to as many agents/editors as possible. Does that make sense? Thanks!

I signed up and am excited to pitch my completed manuscript. Can you tell me how long each pitch is and how the schedule will be? I’d like to be completely prepared and I don’t see this information anywhere.

Hi Kimberley,
Thanks for your question! There will be seven 25-minute sessions throughout the event. We will begin with four 25-minute sessions, followed by a 15-minute break, followed by three additional 25-minute sessions.
During each 25-minute pitch session, each participant will only have 5 minutes to pitch to agents and receive feedback.
We recommend not pitching for the full 5 minutes and to pitch for three or four and have the last one or two minutes of five for the agent to respond to your pitch.
